The National Youth Assembly, often shortened to NYA, is a gathering of young people aged between 16 and 25 within the Church of Scotland. The event is run by the Mission & Discipleship Council of the Church. It is usually held during the first weekend of September and has been held in various locations, most recently the University of Stirling. The weekend consists of debates, fellowship, and events designed to allow delegates to let their hair down.
The Moderator chairs the debates throughout the weekend and is elected by the previous years Youth Representatives. A list of previous moderators is listed below;
The Hootenanny is the highlight of the weekend. It showcases the talents of the delgates who perform for the Audience's enjoyment. Unlike most talent contests a winner is not selected and is more centred around the taking part. Various Acts include Singing, Dancing, A joke or Dance off and other acts.
